Upon completion of the EA and decision processes, BLM will issue a decision record that will amend the 1980 California Desert Conservation Area Plan.

BLM released the NEMO Plan Amendment and Final Environmental Impact Statement in August 2002 and a record of decision in December 2002, which in part designated routes only within the DWMAs. Upon completion of the EA and decision process BLM will designate routes of travel throughout the reminder of the planning area, which encompasses 2.7 million acres of BLM-managed public lands in eastern San Bernardino and Inyo counties and the far eastern edge of Mono County.
